Fahadh Faasil is on a roll, and his next project is already making waves across the South Indian film industry. The versatile actor is officially teaming up with filmmaker C. Prem Kumar, the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed emotional dramas ’96’ and ‘Meiyazhagan’. Adding to the excitement, talented actress Sshivada has been roped in to play the female lead in this highly anticipated Tamil film.
Tentatively titled ‘Production No 32’, the movie officially went on floors with a traditional pooja ceremony in Chennai on Saturday, May 16. Produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner in association with Monsoon Movies, the project marks a massive milestone for Fahadh Faasil. After sharing the screen with Vadivelu in ‘Maareesan’, this upcoming film will be his very first Tamil outing as a solo lead actor.
A bold departure from emotional dramas
While Prem Kumar has carved a niche for himself with heartwarming, tear-jerking storytelling, he is stepping completely out of his comfort zone this time. The director has confirmed that his collaboration with Fahadh will be an intense action thriller. However, he assured fans that the emotional depth that made ’96’ and ‘Meiyazhagan’ so special will remain at the core of this new script.
Prem Kumar recently revealed that he had been developing this thriller for the past four years. Despite receiving advice from many to stick to his proven genre of feel-good dramas, the director was determined to bring this specific vision to life. His confidence was further boosted when he narrated just the first forty-five minutes of the story to Fahadh, who was visibly thrilled and immediately jumped on board.
A stellar cast and crew
The film promises a fresh dynamic between the lead pair. Although Fahadh Faasil and Sshivada recently shared screen space in Mahesh Narayanan’s ‘Patriot’, this will be the first time they are headlining a project together as the main pair. The supporting cast is equally strong, featuring seasoned actors like Chetan, Harish Uthaman, and Karunakaran in pivotal roles.
To elevate the thriller’s atmosphere, Prem Kumar has reunited with his frequent collaborator, music composer Govind Vasantha, who is expected to deliver yet another memorable soundtrack. The technical crew includes Mahendiran Jayaraju handling the cinematography and R Govindaraj taking charge of the editing.
