The highly anticipated pan-Indian project Operation Tral has officially begun production. Following a traditional pooja ceremony held in Kochi, the cameras have started rolling for this ambitious military action thriller, which marks a significant career move for lead actor Jayasurya.

A High-Stakes Military Thriller
Directed by debutant Ratheesh Vega, who has also penned the screenplay and composed the film’s music, Operation Tral is generating significant buzz for its unique premise. It is billed as the first Malayalam film to focus specifically on the operations of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The narrative is reportedly inspired by real-world encounters between the Indian armed forces and militants in Tral, Jammu and Kashmir. The film centers on a devastating convoy attack and the subsequent high-stakes intelligence operations that follow. Jayasurya, who plays the lead character Harshavardhan, an NIA officer, has described the role as one of the most challenging and exciting assignments of his career, promising audiences a blend of gritty realism and high-octane action.
A Massive Pan-Indian Ensemble
The production is being mounted on a large scale by Joby George Thadathil under the Goodwill Entertainments banner. The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Ritika Singh, Vinay Rai, Amyra Dastur, Siddique, Saikumar, Anson Paul, and Nandu. The inclusion of pan-Indian talent highlights the makers’ intent to reach a wide audience across multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
Director Ratheesh Vega emphasized that the film aims to shed light on the silent battles fought in the shadows by the nation’s security personnel. With an experienced technical crew—including cinematographer Najose and editor Shafeeque V.B.—the project is set to be a visual and narrative spectacle.
As the team begins this journey, anticipation is building for a film that promises to honor the resilience of India’s security forces while delivering a gripping cinematic experience.
