A Tale of Identity and Sportsmanship
Set against a 1980s rural backdrop, Peddi follows the journey of a gifted athlete (Ram Charan) hailing from a marginalized, nameless village. The narrative explores his struggle to secure identity papers and recognition for his community through his prowess in cricket, wrestling, and running. The film is being hailed for its emotional depth, focusing on the protagonist’s fight for dignity rather than mere sporting glory.
Ram Charan delivers a powerhouse performance, convincingly portraying the physical and emotional evolution of the character. Shiva Rajkumar plays a pivotal role as Gourinaidu, Peddi’s mentor, while Jagapathi Babu earns praise for his heartfelt performance as Appalasoori. Janhvi Kapoor appears as Achiyamma, the daughter of a local politician and Peddi’s love interest.
Technical Brilliance
The technical team has played a crucial role in elevating the film’s impact. A.R. Rahman’s musical score and background music have been described as some of his best work in recent times, providing the necessary emotional and heroic lift to the story. The visuals by cinematographer R. Rathnavelu beautifully capture the stark contrast between the rustic countryside and the intense sports sequences.
Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner in association with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, Peddi has successfully managed to turn the tide for Ram Charan, proving to be a significant commercial and critical success following Game Changer.
